China Airlines pilots grounded

Three China Airlines pilots have r4portedly been grounded after they took off in the wrong direction during a flight from Anchorage to Taipei on Friday.

Air safety officials in Alaska say the flight - carrying about 250 passengers and crew - mistakenly accelerated down a taxiway instead of a runway and grazed an embankment of snow during liftoff.

The China Airlines chairman has described the incident as a flight error.

But he says the cause of the error is still unknown.
