Vietnam's bourse to expand trading week
Vietnam's fledgling stock market in Ho Chi Minh City is to open five days a week from March.
Stock market director Tran Duc Sinh says the current three trading days a week would no longer be sufficient as the exchange expands from less than a dozen listed firms at present to as many as 25 by the end of the year.
Correspondents say Vietnam has come under mounting pressure from international donors to expand the exchange's operations to maintain the pace of a privatisation programme which has increasingly fallen behind schedule.
Opened amid great fanfare in July 2000, the market traded shares and bonds worth less than 140 million Australian dollars last year.
