Grenade attack injures 18 in Thailand

Assailants have hurled a grenade in an open air market in a town in north-eastern Thailand, injuring 18 people, one of them seriously.

No-one has claimed responsibility for the attack in Pak Chong town, where an explosion at an army ammunition dump on Tuesday killed one soldier and injured 24 others.

A similar accident in October at the arsenal killed 20 people.

Police say some people drove into the open air market and threw an M-26 grenade into the crowd of about 200 people.

They say the motive of the grenade attack is a mystery.
