Russia's foreign minister ends Japanese visit
Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov has ended a three-day visit to Japan and has left for India as part of an Asian tour that will also take in Afghanistan.
In Tokyo, Mr Ivanov separately met Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and newly appointed Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi, focusing on a long-standing row over the Kuril islands.
The two foreign ministers have agreed to continue dialogue on the issue at a vice foreign ministerial meeting in Moscow in March.
Tokyo wants Moscow to return four small islands located between northern Japan and Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula before signing a peace pact.
The islands were seized from Japan by Soviet troops in the last days of World War II.
