Pakistan promisese not to interfere in Afghanistan's internal affairs

Pakistan has promised not to interfere in Afghanistan's internal affairs, while promising to do all it can to improve the lot of the Afghan people.

The assurance came from Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf as Aghanistan's interim leader Hamid Karzai made his first visit to Pakistan in his new capacity.

Pakistan is distrusted by many Afghans because of it's backing of the former Taliban regime.

In a joint news conference between the two leaders Mr Karzai has thanked General Musharraf for his assurances.

We do look forward a tremendously good future ahead of us and yes that future can be made certain by respecting each other's territorial integrity and freedom and I thank you very much for expressing your clear views in this regard.
