Indian security forces shoot dead six Muslim militants in Kashmir
Indian security forces have shot dead six Muslim militants in the troubled Kashmir region.
Two militants belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad militant group -- one of two groups India says carried out an attack on its parliament on December 13th last year -- were killed by troops south of the summer capital Srinagar. Lashkar-e-Taiba is the other group which India says attacked parliament in New Delhi, leaving 15 people dead. Another militant was shot dead in the village of Sangaldhan in the southern Udhampur, while three others died in the Doda and Poonch districts during encounters with Indian troops.
