Former Sri Lankan strong-man faces arrest in poll murder probe
A former Sri Lankan minister who led the government's war against Tamil Tiger rebels, is facing arrest in connection with a probe into a mass murder during last year's election.
Police say former junior defence minister, Anuruddha Ratwatte, who is also an uncle of President Chandrika Kumaratunga, is due to be taken into custody as police probe the murder of 10 men last December.
Mr Ratwatte and his two sons have been implicated in the mass murder of activists of their rival party, which eventually won the general elections.
The A-F-P newsagency says a court has already ordered the arrest of Mr Ratwatte's two sons.
Mr Ratwatte, who once also held the powerful energy post in the Kumaratunga government, is now an opposition member of parliament.
