Asia's least developed nations mull WTO accession in Bangkok

Officials from some of the least developed countries in the Asia-Pacific region have wrapped up a meeting aimed at easing their entry into the World Trade Organisation.

Twenty trade officers from Laos, Nepal, Vietnam, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, and Bhutan met with their counterparts from Mongolia, Thailand and other regional W-T-O members in Bangkok.

The delegates discussed all aspects of accession, from preparing a memorandum to devising a foreign trade regime.

The United Nations says more than 20 Asian and Pacific developing countries are not yet members of the W-T-O.
