47 hundred refugees return home to Afghanistan
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees says more than 47 hundred Afghan refugees have returned home from Pakistan with the assistance of the United Nations.
Close to 14-thousand Afghans have been repatriated from Pakistan since the UNHCR launched the operation last Friday.
The UN agency and Afghanistan's interim administration hope the drive will return to their homes some one-point-two million refugees and internally displaced people by the end of the year.
Under the plan, the UNHCR expects one-point-two million people to return home from refugee camps in Iran and Pakistan and from displacement camps within the war-ravaged country.
