Iraqi detainee injured at Woomera Detention Centre

Australia's Department of Immigration says an Iraqi detainee at the Woomera Detention Centre in outback South Australia has been injured after jumping onto razor wire .

The man's condition is not known...he's being treated for his injuries.

The department says 142 detainees refused to eat this evening...with a similar number refusing to have lunch.

But a spokeswoman says officially, only seven detainees have declared to authorities that they have been on a hunger strike since Wednesday night.

The unrest at Woomera is part of a continuing protest against the length of time it's taking for detainees' visas to be processed.
