US president Bush meets Hu Jintao in Washington
US President George W. Bush has told visiting Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao he is "pleased" with the state of Sino-US ties.
A White House spokesman says the two leaders discussed a wide range of issues, including the US-led "war on terrorism," Taiwan and human rights.
Mr Bush told Mr Hu that Washington and Beijing "can work well together on a wide range of issues although there may be some disagreements.
The US leader and his guest -- who first met earlier this year during Mr Bush's trip to Beijing -- also discussed agricultural issues, missile proliferation and human rights.
Mr Hu was making his most significant step yet onto the international stage, ahead of his expected elevation to some of China's top posts later this year.
