Afghan troops arrive in Paktia Province to reinforce US operations
The first of more than a thousand Afghan troops have arrived in Paktia Province to reinforce U-S led military operations in eastern Afghanistan.
The 30 troops arrived in the province in armed personnel carriers along with trucks equipped with rocket launchers.
They'll join 12-hundred coalition troops from the U-S and other countries including Australia in Operation Anaconda.
The operation is trying to root out pockets of Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters holding out in the rugged Arma mountain region of Afghanistan.
Coalition military sources now say bad weather and greater than expected resistance mean the operation will take much longer than first expected.
