Germany to organise Afghanistan's Loya Jirga
Germany is to organize the Loya Jirga in Afghanistan, a traditional tribal meeting billed as one of the key steps towards creating a transition government.
Germany's Cooperation and Development Minister Heidemarie Wiczorek-Zeul says Germany had made a donation of more than six million dollars to the United Nations Development Programme to pay for Loya Jirga preparations.
The Loya Jirga is planned to take place in Kabul between June the 5th and 16th, with some 1,500 delegates expected to take part. They are due to choose a transition government which will pave the way for elections.
