Defence minister assures US of Indonesia's anti-terrorism commitment
Indonesia's Defense Minister, Matori Abdul Jalil, has reportedly urged Washington not to doubt Jakarta's commitment to the anti-terrorism drive.
Indonesia's official Antara newsagency says Jakarta is working on a draft anti-terrorism law that will enable the armed forces to act against any threat without hesitation.
The minister also called for Washington's patience and understanding as Indonesia is still in a transitional period towards full democracy and had many issues apart from terrorism to deal with.
Indonesia has been criticised by some U-S officials and some of its neighbours for failing to mount a crackdown on extremists.
It has been accused by some as a haven for terrorist groups, including those allegedly linked to al-Qaeda which is blamed for the September 11 terror attacks on the United States.
