Cambodia miffed as Angelina Jolie shoots film in Thailand
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has upset the cultural sensitivities of Cambodia by starring in a movie being shot in northern Thailand.
Jolie, who recently adopted a Cambodian orphan, is starring in "Beyond Borders", a romantic story about a volunteer doctor who worked in refugee camps in Africa and Cambodia during the 1980's.
However, the filming of Cambodian scenes are not being shot in the country, prompting a warning from the Cambodian culture ministry that people won't be fooled into believing the Thai backdrop is Cambodia.
The Director of the culture ministry's film department, Som Sokun, says if the film shows Cambodia in a bad image, there will be a reaction from the government and it could be banned from the country.
Jolie, star of "Tomb Raider" which was shot in Cambodia, is also an ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
