Vietnam's president ends fence-mending trip to North Korea

Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong has left North Korea after a four-day visit aimed at renewing ties between the two former communist allies.

The North's state media said Mr Luong, together with the North's nominal head of state, reviewed an honor guard during a farewell ceremony at an airport near Pyongyang.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il held friendly talks with the Vietnamese president on Saturdday.

President Luong was the first Vietnamese head of state to visit the communist country in four decades.
