US, Russia pledge to work together on Kashmir conflict
The United States says it will work with Russia to try to keep the situation under control on the sub-continent after suspected Pakistani militants killed 30 people in the Indian part of Kashmir.
The American Secretary of State Colin Powell was speaking after talks in Iceland with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov.
Mr Powell says the attack is a reminder of the danger terrorism presents to all civilized people and nations.
And he says both Moscow and Washington will attempt to work with India and Pakistan to keep emotions under control, and do whatever can be done to bring those responsible to justice.
Mr Powell's assistant for the region, Christina Rocca, was in India yesterday at the start of a regional tour.
