Indonesia's record in fighting terrorism defended
Indonesia's top security minister has defended his country's record in fighting terrorism after the US State Department said Indonesia had been slow to rein in Islamic extremists.
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told a seminar in Jakarta that Indonesia was committed to preventing and combating all forms of terrorism.
He said internally, new national laws were being drafted and externally, Indonesia was actively engaged in promoting international co-operation to address terrorism, especially within ASEAN - the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Mr Yudohoyono said Indonesia also would set up a task force under presidential decree to heighten and renew awareness of the danger of international terrorism.
