Indonesian President accused of more financial wrongdoing
Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid has been accused of more financial wrongdoing involving about 90 million dollars allegedly received from several Arab countries, including Jordan, intended for the restive Aceh Province.
The Forum Keadilan magazine quoted Ali Yahya, of the Golkar party, as saying Mr Wahid had disclosed the funds during a meeting with a committee of the House of Representatives after a trip to Kuwait, Qatar and Jordan in November 1999.
The magazine quotes Mr Ali as saying Mr Wahid received the money as a donation to solve the problems in Aceh.
Mr Ali says Mr Wahid did not make a financial report of the fund to the proper authorities. There was no response from the state palace over the latest accusation.
This came just days after parliamentarians expressed disappointment over answers given by Mr Wahid in response to a "memorandum" of censure issued by parliament over his alleged involvement in two other financial scandals.
