11 people found dead in Central Sulawesi town

Police in Indonesia say at least 11 people have been found dead in the Central Sulawesi town of Poso.

The victims, including women and children, were residents of a predominantly Muslim village near the town.

Most of the victims were believed to have been executed by unidentified armed civilians.

The Antara news agency says the village was attacked despite the presence of some 400 military personnel in Poso, deployed there since Saturday from the provincial capital Palu.

The news agency says about 79,000 Poso residents have taken refuge in several parts of Central Sulawesi since clashes broke out between Muslims and Christians in April last year.
