Indonesia's President names 30 member cabinet

Indonesia's new President Megawati Sukarnoputri has named a 30 member Cabinet made up of mostly professional administrators, rather than politicians, to tackle her government's economic woes, corruption and separatist unrest.

Mark Bowling reports from Jakarta.

Unveiling her new Cabinet, President Megawati described its aim as "Gotong Royong" or mutual cooperation . She has named a civilian Matori Abdul Jalil as Defence Minister and mainly career bureaucrats to key economic and finance positions. Megawati has not bowed to party political pressure in naming her Cabinet, even though she's indebted to most major parties for backing her push for the presidency and for helping her to oust her predecessor Abduraham Wahid.
