Australia and Indonesia need to look to the future says PM

Australia's Prime Minister John Howard says it's important for Indonesia and Australia to look to the future, despite past differences...particularly over East Timor.

Mr Howard will travel to Indonesia on Sunday, becoming the first foreign leader to meet Mrs Megawati since she became president.

The Prime Minister says it's good to get communications opened up early:

We obviously had some differences with Indonesia over East Timor, and I'm very proud of what Australia did on that issue...very proud indeed. However, we must move on and it's important Indonesia and Australia look to the future, and I can draw some comfort about the future at a political level from the fact that we are meeting so early in her presidency.
