US renews offer of talks with N-Korea after dialogue with Sth
The United States has renewed its offer to talk to North Korea, but only after Pyongyang and Seoul resume their own dialogue after a six-month break. American Secretary of State Colin Powell made the statement, shortly after meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Han Seung-Soo in Washington.
Mr Powell said once dialogue between the two Koreas is underway, the US will engage with North Korea at any time and place and without preconditions.
US President George Bush angered North Korea in March when he said he did not trust its leader Kim Jong-Il. The two Koreas have announced that reunions of families split by the 1950-53 Korean War could resume and have scheduled further talks next month.
