New computer virus runs riot through Asia's techscape
The Nimda computer virus is attacking computers across Asia and clogged Internet traffic, especially to Web sites based in the United States.
Companies and individuals in the region complained of slow access to U.S. Web sites, and experts said Nimda was more dangerous than many recent viruses because it's so complex and is spreading like wildfire.
The Nimda virus does not hurt computer hardware, but clogs Internet traffic and e-mail access with junk, slowing them considerably.
Nimda targets Windows-based servers and computers. It has caused Web sites across the world to shut down.
