Vietnam adoption racket cracked

Prosecutors in southern Vietnam have brought charges against seven people allegedly involved in selling 39 babies to foreigners for adoption.

Six people have been charged with baby trafficking, while a former police officer has been accused of taking bribes to tamper with evidence.

Police have also issued an arrest warrant for one defendant who is still at large.

The babies from impoverished families were sold to foreigners for several thousand dollars between 1996-98.
