Japan's jobless rats rises

Japan's unemployment rate has hit a new record high

Tokyo correspondent Mark Simkin reports, the full extent of the problem is even worse than the official figures indicate.

In October there were more than three and a half million people looking for work in Japan. The official unemployment rate hit five-point-four percent, the highest level since records began after the second world war. Economists believe the real figure is probably double that because many Japanese are too ashamed to admit they are looking for work.
