India's prime minister holds talks with Japanese business leaders
India's Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has held talks with Japanese business leaders in the western city of Osaka. Mr Vajpayee, who arrived in Osaka on Friday for a five-day visit to Japan, met representatives from four business groups based in the city. The Indian leader is due to head to Tokyo on Sunday for talks with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi on Monday.
India-Japan relations plunged to a low when New Delhi conducted shock nuclear tests in May 1998. Bilateral ties began to thaw in August 2000 with a visit by then Japanese prime minister Yoshiro Mori.
