Six people killed in Indian-administered Kashmir
An army officer is among six people killed in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Indian police say the officer was killed when heavily equipped Islamic separatist militants ambushed an army patrol in the southern Poonch district.
Militants fled the area after carrying out the attack, which was claimed by the pro-Pakistan movement Jamiat-ul-Mujahedin. Indian security forces also shot dead three Muslim militants in two separate encounters in north and south Kashmir.
Two more people were killed by militants elsewhere, including an army informer.
