United States welcomes Pakistan President's anti-terror statement
The United States has praised Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, for his firm renunciation of terrorism.
A day after President George W-Bush called on General Musharraf to intensify his crackdown on militant groups, Secretary of State, Colin Powell, followed up with a call to the Pakistani president.
The move comes amid the crisis between India and Pakistan over a December the 13th attack on India's Parliament.
India has demanded a crackdown on Pakistan-based militant groups, blaming two of them for the attack.
On Monday, General Musharraf said after meeting British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, that Pakistan rejected terrorism in all its forms and has fully cooperated with the international coalition against terrorism.
In recent weeks, Pakistan security forces have rounded up scores of militants, branded by India as terrorists, but India on Tuesday insisted it was still waiting for Pakistan to take substantive steps.
