India, Pakistan trade fresh fire over Kashmir border

Indian and Pakistani troops have reportedly exchanged heavy artillery and machine gun fire over their disputed border in Kashmir.

A police spokesman in Srinagar says the renewed fighting is along the Line of Control dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan

He accused Pakistan of launching the attack at Indian positions in Machil sector, causing panic among border residents.

The police spokesman says Indian army troops returned fire and the exchange is continuing, although it's not known if there are any casualties.
