Seven die in Maoist-linked violence in Nepal
Maoist insurgents have killed six people in the latest violence in Nepal.
In one incident at least 35 armed Maoists surrounded a house in the far east, killing the chief district officer and two others in the house with him.
Maoists also killed the chairman of a government sports board in the southwest.
As well, a man mourning his father's death was shot dead by rebels, in an apparent objection to Nepalese Hindu custom.
The Moaists want to topple Nepal's constitutional monarchy and establish a people's republic.
More than 500 people have died since the government imposed a state of emergency in Nepal in November.
