China to employ sky marshals

Authorities in China say police are to be placed on all Chinese planes in a bid to prevent terrorist attacks

The official Xinhua news agency says China's Civil Aviation Administration will recruit about two-thousand police to provide security on all domestic and international flights.

The increased security measures come amid heightened global aviation fears following last year's September 11 attacks on the United States

Chinese authorities say ethnic Uighurs separatists have been trained in neighbouring Afghanistan by Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda terror network.
