Indian PM and two ministers to visit strife-torn Kashmir
Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee says he will soon visit the strife-torn state of Kashmir along with two senior cabinet ministers to review the situation and make a fresh attempt at restoring peace.
Mr Vajpayee says he will go to Jammu and Kashmir with Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani and Defence Minister George Fernandes.
The Indian leader says a strategy for Kashmir will be devised after holding discussions with people in the state. Mr Vajpayee says elections in the state would also be held shortly and added that he was hopeful they would be free and fair. He says the Kashmiri people had become wary of separatist groups and said there was a new atmosphere conducive for peace.
