11 feared dead in Chinese coal mine cave-in

As many as 11 workers are feared dead after a cave-in at a coal mine in northern China.

The accident happened in a coal mine near the city of Tangshan, about 150 kilometres east of Beijing, on Thursday.

Officials say four bodies have been recovered so far, with seven others still missing.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.

China has a horrific record of mining fatalities, admitting to 5,000 deaths a year, although independent observers put the real number at more than twice that.
