Maoists kill at least 28 policemen in western Nepal

Suspected Maoists in western Nepal have launched a large-scale attack on a police post killing at least 28 policemen, the second such incident within a week.

State-run radio reported 41 other policemen were missing feared dead, buried under the debris of the bombed building in which they were sheltering.

A rescue helicopter has flown to the troubled spot to evacuate the wounded and ascertain further details about the attack.

The Maoists launched their violent campaign to overthrow Nepal's constitutional monarchy and multi-party democracy in 1996.
