Indonesian lawmakers prepare to elect vice-president

Indonesian lawmakers are preparing to elect a vice-president today to assist Megawati Sukarnoputri, who was sworn in as the country's new leader on Monday.

Meanwhile, the impeached former leader, Abdurrahman Wahid, is refusing to budge from the presidential palace .. as Mark Bowling reports from Jakarta.

Abdurrahman Wahid remains in the Palace, a fallen figure out of step with events around him. Still coming to grips with parliament's unanimous decision to impeach him. Officials say he will not be forcibly evicted, but he will leave the palace in the next few days. It's turing out to be a peaceful transition of power. After being sworn in as leader on Monday, Megawati Sukarnoputri is expected to appoint a new cabinet team in the next few days. While members of parliament will choose a new vice president today.
