Ousted Indonesian leader set to leave country

Deposed Indonesian leader Abdurrahman Wahid is expected to travel to the United States for medical treatment when he finally leaves the Presidential palace in Jakarta.

As Ginny Stein reports, it's thought the former President will vacate the head of state's official residence tomorrow.

Acting Foreign Minister Alwi Shihab says outsted President Abdurrahman Wahid is waiting for approval from his successor to travel to the United States for medical treatment. He had initially refused to quit the palace insisting his removal by the nation's MP's was illegal. But it's now believed he will depart the palace tomorrow. Meanwhile five candidates today presented themselves before a panel of faction leaders for the position of vice-president, two of the leading candidates are former military generals, with all candidates have held ministerial positions in the past.
