North Korea refuses to resume talks with U-S
North Korea says it won't resume talks with the United States, unless Washington drops its "hostile" policy toward Pyongyang and removes US-imposed conditions for dialogue. The comments come as North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il returned home after a 24-day train journey through Russia. Following a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-Il said the withdrawal of US troops in South Korea was a pressing problem which needed to be solved to ensure peace and security on the Korean peninsula. In March, U-S President George W Bush suspended talks with North Korea, ordering a review of US policy toward Pyongyang.
President Bush says he is willing to resume talks with North Korea but wants to discuss reductions in North Korea's armed forces and its missile development.
