Taiwan grounds all of its remaining Mirage fighter jets
Taiwan has grounded all of its remaining 57 Mirage fighter jets after a third warplane crashed off the island. French engineers and technicians are now examining the jets.
But it's not known when the fighters will be allowed to fly again. The suspension comes after a twin-seater Mirage fighter crashed into the sea to the north of the island on Wednesday, leaving one pilot dead and another still missing. The Mirage lost contact during a routine training mission about 40 kilometres off Hsinchu. The cause of the accident, the third involving a Mirage jet in two years, is not immediately clear.
