Vietnam expresses concern over Cambodian fires
Vietnam has expressed deep concern at two huge fires which swept the Cambodian capital during a visit last week by Vietnamese President, Tran Duc Luong.
The fires left some 20-thousand people homeless, many of them Vietnamese nationals.
A Vietnamese foreign ministry spokeswoman expressed Hanoi's deep concern at the impact on the lives and property of Vietnamese nationals living in areas touched by the fires.
She says Vietnam is in the process of providing aid to the victims through its embassy in Phnom Penh and called on the Cambodian government to assist the victims.
Cambodian officials insist the fires, which hit two shantytown districts of Phnom Penh less than 48 hours apart, were started by accident.
