Pakistan and China reaffirm close ties
Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf, has described China as his country's cornerstone ally.
General Musharraf made the comments on the first day of a visit to China during a meeting with China's President, Jiang Zemin, and comes at a crucial time as both nations anxiously watch developments in Afghanistan.
General Musharraf's comments to President Jiang are being seen as reassurance to Beijing that Islamabad's bond with China will not be affected by Pakistan's decision to join the US-led anti-terrorism coalition.
The visit also comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India after the December 13th attack on India's parliament by five armed gunmen.
New Delhi has blamed Pakistan-based militants backed by Pakistani military intelligence.
