US detaines former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan

The US military in Afghanistan has detained the former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, Mullah Abdul Salem Zaeef.

Zaeef was detained by the Americans after Paksitani officials denied him asylum and sent him back over the border.

US authorities have indicated he is being questioned aboard a warship in the Arabian sea.

Meanwhile, the fugitive Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar, is reported to have eluded forces searching for him in the south of the country.

But U-S President George W. Bush says the hunt for Omar, Osama bin Laden and other senior Taliban and al-Qaeda figures will continue.

We're pursuing our objective cave by cave. You see the people that tend to send young innocent boys to their death in the name of Allah want to save their own skins by hiding in caves. And I've told the world, just like I've told our military we will do whatever it takes to bring them to justice.
