Taliban leader escapes again

The leader of the Taliban, Mullah Mohammad Omar, is reported to have fled his hideout in southern Afghanistan on a motorbike.

Mullah Omar slipped past Afghan forces in Helmand province where he had been with his forces in the district of Baghran.

Afghan authorities say they know where he is and are confident he will not evade them again.

The escape was the second staged by Mullah Omar, who last month slipped out of the southern city of Kandahar with hundreds of armed fighters.

He is wanted by the United States for harbouring alleged terrorist Osama bin Laden.
