Vietnam government sends missions to provinces

Vietnam's Prime Minister, Phan Van Khai, is sending eight high-level delegations to 21 cities and provinces to examine the handling of public complaints by local governments.

Most of the complaints involve corruption by local officials and land grievances

Last year, the government sent six missions to the same 21 cities and provinces in response to rising numbers of complaints and criticisms from citizens.

The Associated Press newsagency says however, only a small number of major complaints were resolved and about a dozen officials disciplined.
