Large fire in northern Malaysia
Malaysian firefighters are battling to put out a blaze that has engulfed about 200 hectares of mountain forests in the north of the country.
The official Bernama news agency has quoted government officials as saying 160 firefighters are trying to douse the blaze in the Ulu Muda forest reserve in the state of Kedah, which borders Thailand.
The fire, which could have originated from small fires started by locals, was first detected last Wednesday.
The news agency says government officials are concerned it could spread to Thailand because the border is 25 kilometres away.
