Burma's military government says it expects significant progress
A minister in Burma's military government says he expects significant progress within the next few days aimed at national reconciliation with democracy leader, Aung San Suu Kyi.
However, Labour Minister, Tin Win, discounted the possiblity developments will include the release of Nobel peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been under virtual house arrest for much of the past decade.
The international community has been anxiously awaiting news out of Rangoon since envoy United Nations envoy, Razali Ismail, made a key four-day visit to Burma last week.
Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy won Burma's last democratic elections in 1990 but has never been allowed to govern.
Instead, its members have been locked up, harassed or exiled and its party offices closed.
