Russia's Prime Minister due in Vietnam
Russia's Prime Minister is due to arrive in Vietnam today to promote a strategic partnership between the former Cold War allies and build on a landmark visit just over a year ago by President, Vladimir Putin.
Reuters newsagency says that during Mikhail Kasyanov's trip, which will last until Thursday, the two countries will discuss ways to expand their main area of cooperation, oil and gas exploitation.
Vietnam's official media says the countries are expected to sign an agreement on a 200-million credit Russia has offered to finance two hydropower plants in the Central Highlands region.
The Russian embassy said the two governments would also sign agreements on peaceful cooperation in nuclear energy as well as in meteorology, medicine and health care.
