China furthes relations with Kiribati

The Chinese Ambassador to Kiribati, Ma Shuxue, says this is a big year in the development of relations between the two countries.

He was speaking to journalists at the handing over ceremony of China's latest financial aid package.

The ambassador said relations between Kiribati and China had deepened since the state visit of President Teburoro Tito to China in 1996, followed by series of high level ministerial visits to the mainland.

He said the Kiribati President had been invited to visit China again around July this year.
