Union leaders suspend strike to support electricity workers
South Korean trade unions have suspended a scheduled nationwide work stoppage in support of striking power workers after narrowing differences over privatization.
Union officials also say electricity workers will also suspend their six week old strike after new talks with government officials.
The militant Korean Confederation of Trade Unions says it has suspended its order to start a nationwide strike, adding that union leaders and government officials were working on a full accord.
Government officials agreed to accept a confederation demand that the privatization of state power firms not be mentioned in the accord.
The confederation vowed to mobilize more than 100-thousand members for Tuesday's action by auto and other key industries.
