South Korean president sends special envoy north

A special envoy from South Korea is to hold talks with North Korea's leaders in Pyongyang.

Lim Dong-Won is with North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Il. The trip is an attempt to resume reconciliation talks.

North Asia correspondent Mark Simkin reports the trip marks a new attempt at reconciliation on the peninsula.

There's been no official contact between the two countries since last year and this visit represents something of a breakthrough, particularly considering the tensions that have developed on the peninsula since the U-S Government declared the North was part of an axis of evil. Mark Simkin, Tokyo.
